The University of Bradford Stadium hosts EFL Trophy action on Tuesday as Bradford City takes on Newcastle Academy.

Bradford come into this cup matchup in somewhat inconsistent form after a 2:1 defeat at Grimsby Town in League Two on Saturday. The Bantams have won two, lost two and drawn one of five games played across all competitions this season. 

The hosts will feel confident about their chances on Tuesday though, with victories picked up in four of their last five home fixtures since the end of March. The Bantams bagged ten goals in those wins while leaking just twice.

Bradford also boast a strong recent record in home matches in the EFL Trophy, with four victories collected from their last five games at University of Bradford Stadium.

Visiting Newcastle U21 have a miserable recent record in this competition having lost each of their last 16 EFL Trophy ties since 2019. The young Mapgies have also been short in consistency in the early part of their Premier League 2 campaign. Newcastle won one, drew one and lost one of their first three fixtures this season. 

Ultimately, while unlikely to be blown away by their League Two opponents, Newcastle Academy are expected to struggle in Tuesday′s EFL Trophy tie so I′ll be putting my faith in the Bantams.
