We could all remember how the European Super League once strongly opposed UEFA in an effort to rebrand European football.

Qualification Stage

The UCL begins with the qualification rounds. Teams from lower-ranked countries would have to go through the qualification stage

League Stage

The UCL league stage consists of 36 teams, all ranked together. There are 8 matches for each team in this stage; four at home and four away from home.

Knockout Round Play-offs

Teams that take places from 9 to 24 will play in the playoffs in 1/16 and when the winner is revealed, they will join the teams that took 1 to 8 place in the League Stage and will play in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.

Round of 16; Quarter-finals; Semi-finals

The round of 16, quarter-finals, and the semi-finals have teams compete in two-legged ties to advance. The Round of 16 has 16 teams from the league stage and play-offs, facing off home and away to move forward.

In the Quarter-finals, the remaining 8 teams battle in similar two-legged matchups to secure a spot in the Semi-finals.

The Semi-finals then see the last 4 teams competing over two legs, aiming to reach the final.

Final

The final is between two teams that made it all through the league stage, the last 16, quarter finals, and the semifinals.

This season's final, to be held at The Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, will remain as always, which is a one-legged tie that will be determined in 90 minutes. If the match ends in a draw, it proceeds to extra time and possibly a penalty shootout.

UEFA ranks clubs based on a coefficient that measures their performance in European competitions over 5 years. Clubs earn points for wins and draws in the UCL, UEL, and the Conference League.

Clubs earn more points for their success, like reaching higher stages, such as the knockout rounds.

Higher-ranked leagues are awarded more UCL spots as a reward for their performance over the previous five seasons.
