- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CEST
- Venue: John Smith's Stadium (Huddersfield)
After five seasons in the Championship, Huddersfield moved to League One, third level of English football. They should be one of the best teams in the division, so Michael Duff's team hopes for a fast return to the higher tier. However, they need to improve their form, as Huddersfield lost four of the last five matches. In the previous game, they lost 3-1 at home against Northampton. The home side probably deserved more from that match as they had 65% ball possession and seven shots on the goal more than the opponent, but Huddersfield stayed empty-handed again.
The 2024/25 season was the second in a row for Blackpool in League One. Last year, they finished eighth, and a position like that should be realistic for the current season, too. Blackpool didn't play well in the opening rounds, but lately, they have improved. Steve Bruce's team won three of the last four matches in all competitions. In the previous game, they won 2-1 on the road against Charlton. After a 2-0 lead in the first half, Blackpool focused on defense. The home side scored in the second half's stoppage time, so that was nothing more than a consolation goal.
Huddersfield vs Blackpool pick: Both teams to score - yes
Both these teams are scoring goals regularly. Huddersfield scored at least one goal in each of nine games this season, while Blackpool scored at least one in six of the previous seven matches. Both teams to score - yes should be the best bet for this tie.

Huddersfield team news
After a shocking 3-1 defeat against Northampton, Huddersfield's manager Michael Duff was very disappointed. He said, Simply put, it's not good enough. We were outfought and outran, and everything that could go wrong did go wrong – the own goal, the missed penalty, missing an open goal, the foul for the third goal. Credit to Northampton, but I didn't see it coming, if I'm being honest. We had a really good training week, and we showed no disrespect to Northampton because we knew what they would do, and they did what we thought, but we just didn't execute."
Danny Ward served a suspension in the previous match and could return to the lineup against Blackpool.
