For Croatia and Portugal, this will be the first official match after the end of EURO 2024 in which neither of them met the set goals. Croatia was eliminated in the group stage, while Portugal ended its participation in the 1/4 finals.

The League of Nations is an opportunity for these national teams to introduce some new players to the qualification cycle for the World Championship in the USA, Canada and Mexico, for which they will certainly have great ambitions. In June, Croatia won in Portugal in a preparatory match for the European Championship, which was also the first ever victory of Croatian players over the Portuguese.

This is one of the weaker groups in the entire League of Nations, so it shouldn't be too difficult for Portugal or Croatia to take the first two places next to Scotland and Poland.
