Two sides levelled on eight points in the Spanish top flight go head to head on Monday night as Real Betis play host Mallorca.

Real Betis have finished in either sixth or seventh in all but one of their last four La Liga campaigns. Los Verdiblancos managed to secure a Conference League football last season, but they didn’t start the new season like a side that want to change things. Manuel Pellegrini’s side started the 2024-25 campaign with a run of three consecutive league games without a win, playing out two draws and losing against Real Madrid. But with two wins from their last two games, they will fancy another win against Mallorca on Monday.

Mallorca meanwhile are one of those sides that their main objective every season is to avoid relegation. The visitors have got the job done in each of the last three seasons and their start to the current has given them the belief that they can do it again this season. Jagoba Arrasate’s side began their campaign by drawing with the Champions Real Madrid and put in a similar performance in the win over Sociedad last time out.

While Real Betis have finished just four of their seven competitive games so far this season without conceding, their games have been very close with all but two ending with under two goals and Monday’s game is unlikely to be different.

Mallorca boast three clean sheets so far this season and even when they couldn’t manage one, not many goals were given away. The visitors have conceded a total of just four goals in their six outings so far and only one of those games produced more than two goals.
