Since its relegation from the Championship in 2021, Wycombe finished every season as a top-half team in League One. They would be satisfied with the same result in the current year, too, as Matt Bloomfield's team should be far from the best teams in the division. Wycombe had a terrible start to the 2024/25 season, with three defeats in the first four matches in all competitions. Since then, the team from Adams Park won five of the next six matches. Although Bloomfield's team came to the victory late in the second half, they dominated throughout the game, so picking all three points was well-deserved. 

Under manager Unai Emery, Aston Villa became one of the best Premier League teams. Last year, they finished fourth, while this season, the team from Villa Park started with an outstanding 12 points from the first five games. Aston Villa won the last four matches in a row. In the previous game, they won 3-1 at home against Wolves. The home side was losing until the 71st minute, but they were impressive late in the second half, so Emery's team secured another victory.
