MightyTips.com announces another partnership with a Championship football star!

A leading UK betting football site guide is adding to its squad of sponsored Championship players, with Sheffield Wednesday stalwart midfielder winger Liam Palmer joining the ranks.

He becomes the latest sponsored player by MightyTips.com after Blackburn Rovers captain midfielder Lewis Travis and Cardiff City central defender Dimitrios Goutas.

The MightyTips brand aims to construct a more robust awareness in the UK between itself and professional football as we strive to introduce potential new customers to our services. The sponsorship of Palmer over the 2023/24 season comes as The Owls aim to consolidate their slot in the EFL Championship after an incredible and memorable promotion via the play-offs from League One last season.

Eugene Ravdin, Communications and Marketing Manager of MightyTips.com, said:

Liam Palmer is an experienced midfielder with over 300 club appearances under the belt. He's been a dedicated performer for the Owls ever since his debut in 2010. We think his incredible experience will provide part of the bedrock of a successful season for Sheffield Wednesday, and we're delighted to play a small part in their adventure.

The 31-year-old Scottish international was an ever-present last season, making 47 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with six goals. He has been with Sheffield Wednesday since 2010, save for a loan move to Tranmere for the 2012/2013 season, and has made 30+ appearances in seven of the ten seasons since 2013/2014. His loyalty, dependability, and consistency make him one of the most legendary squad players.

In the summer of 2023, he underwent minor groin surgery to correct a bothersome issue but has returned to the side, flipping between midfield and defence as new manager Xisco Munoz attempts to find a winning formula.

What Next

While last year's campaign was a phenomenal success for Wednesday, they've endured a slow start this campaign, losing five of their opening six fixtures.

Palmer is being used intermittently as a starter and as a substitute, with Munoz hoping his experience and status within the squad can help elevate them out of the early-season mire they find themselves in.

The Owls face a colossal month of football, with games coming thick and fast against Middlesbrough, Swansea, Sunderland, and West Brom.

About Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday, one of the oldest football clubs in England, has a rich and diverse history as one of the pillars of British sports. Formed in 1867 by the members of Wednesday Cricket Club, it initially functioned as a leisure activity for the cricketers during the off-season.

The club, originally known as "The Wednesday," was officially renamed as "Sheffield Wednesday" in 1929. Throughout its history, it has experienced periods of significant success, notably winning the First Division title four times and the FA Cup three times in the early part of the century. However, you'd have to go back to 1991 since they won their last major trophy, lifting the League Cup, before finishing runners-up in both the League and FA Cups in the 1992/93 campaign.

They last appeared in the Premier League in 2000, representing the longest period they have spent outside the top flight.

Despite their ups and downs, including financial struggles and relegation battles, Sheffield Wednesday is a beloved institution in English football.
